President Benigno S. Aquino lll yesterday welcomed arriving overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from three separate flights from Bahrain, Singapore and Etihad.
Vacationing OFWs had the chance to meet the President, shake hand and had `photo-ops’ with him. Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, OWWA Administrator Carmelita S. Dimzon and OWWA Deputy Administrator Josefino I. Torres, and MIAA General Manager Angel Honrado assisted the President Aquino in welcoming the migrant workers.
The arriving migrant workers were accorded and treated with ambiance of merry-making and festivities as they were serenaded by the Children’s Joy Rondalla, served the Filipino-made ice cream “sorbetes” and were given gifts courtesy of DOLE-OWWA institutional partners.
Yesterday, Secretary Baldoz said that three (3) Lucky OFWs were announced namely: CAROL B. PANGASIAN, 42 years old from Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental. Carol is a household service worker in Kuwait; EDWARD A. TEZON, 44 years old, a native of Jaro, Leyte. Edward is a quality control supervisor in Abu Dhabi; and MENCHIE L. ELISEO. The three (3) lucky winners were surprised and elated as they received their gifts. Moreover, the trio said they had a time of their life as they come face-to-face with the President and other government officials who greeted them yesterday. visibly happy and excited.
President Aquino handed over to the three lucky OFW winners the following prizes: P200,000.00 cash; gift certificates worth $1,500.00; gift certificates worth P25,000.00; and one (1) cellular phone.
OWWA Administrator Dimzon said that yesterday’s activity is part of the DOLE-OWWA’s “Pamaskong Handog for OFWs” which is now running on its 18th year. --END--
