TANDAG CITY ( 30 April 2012)---Sixteen sets of officers were acknowledged by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration–Regional Welfare Office 13 as equipped and empowered OFWs after they underwent Organizational Development Seminar and took oath as the new officers for the OFW FAMILY CLUBS from the sixteen municipalities of the Province of Surigao del Sur.

PASAY CITY (2012 APRIL) --- Holding the leadership training-cum-team building for the OWWA-NCR scholars two days before the Lenten week in the upland Antipolo proved to be a wise move for the RWO-NCR officials as the youngsters had the chance to contemplate on their inner self in exploring their leadership potential and ultimately, in responding to the challenge of volunteerism posed on them during the training.

Cagayan de Oro City, April 26, 2012----The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Region 10 continues to conduct Psychosocial Counseling through Stress Debriefing Seminars for OFWs and their dependents in the cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro. The two cities were identified to be the hardest hit areas of “Typhoon Sendong” in Northern Mindanao.

Cagayan de Oro City, May 10, 2012----For the past six years, the Peoples Eco-Tourism and Livelihood (PETAL) Foundation, Inc. in Oroquieta City has been extending financial assistance for livelihood development to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their dependents in the Province of Misamis Occidental. As an Accredited Co-Partner (ACP), the Foundation implements the Livelihood Development Program for OFWs (LDPO) which is jointly undertaken by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the National Livelihood Development Corporation (NLDC).

PASAY CITY (12 APRIL 2012) --- Grazie mille! This Italian expression meaning ‘thank you very much,’ was the first set of words that Deborah Nebrada and Santiago Penas might have easily learned by themselves when they started working as Household Service Workers (HSWs) in 2010 in the European country through a visa visit. But thanks to OWWA’s language training under the Comprehensive Pre-Departure Education Program (CPDEP), the context of Grazie mille as stated in their handwritten letter of March 30, 2012 to the OWWA Administrator has deepened with much fervor and gratitude having learned more about the Italian language, proper usage of words, and other cultural facts they ought to know during their re-entry to Italy using a work visa.

PASAY CITY (APRIL 2012) --- The OFW Reintegration Program, commonly known as OFW business loan, grants from P300,000 to P2M based on the amount proposed in the applicant’s business plan after successfully complying with all the documentary requirements imposed by the OWWA and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP). Within the same period, 77 applicants were given the certificate of eligibility after complying with OWWA’s preliminary requirements and were endorsed to the LBP for further processing that includes background/credit investigation.

MALABON CITY (2012 May 11) --- Around 6,000 land-based and 3,000 sea-based OFWs residing in Malabon City stand to benefit from the OFW Help Desk set up by the RWO-NCR in the city through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on May 10, 2012 by OWWA Administrator Carmelita S. Dimzon and Malabon City Acting Mayor Antolin Oreta III. This forged partnership makes OFW Help Desk-Malabon the 4th Help Desk established by the welfare agency in the National Capital Region.

CALAMBA CITY (2012 May 10) --- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration regional office in Calamba City announced that the region is still accepting applicants for the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (OFWDSP) for school year 2012-2013. Every year the region allocates 60 scholarship grants to underprivileged yet deserving dependents of OFWs. Twenty scholars will be coming from each of the five provinces of Region IV-A.
