June 08 – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) released P220,000 representing the life insurance benefit and burial assistance to the family of Filipino seafarer and OWWA member Arden Jugueta, one of the passengers of ill-fated Air France flight 447 that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean last week.

The French aircraft, which carried a total of 228 people, was traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Paris when it disappeared into the Atlantic.

OWWA chief Carmelita Dimzon personally handed the check to Jugueta’s wife Miguela and daughter Aleli during a meeting at her office.

Although the remains of Jugueta has yet to be recovered, Dimzon said OWWA opted to release the financial benefits to his family since Air France had already declared that no one survived the accident.
