OWWA RWO VI holds second Scholars Conference

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office VI convened thirty OFW dependents in the second Scholars Conference for 2014.


OWWA scholars, who are beneficiaries under the Education and Development Scholarship Program, OFW Dependents Scholarship Program, and the Education and Livelihood Assistance Program, attended the said event held at the Iloilo Grand Hotel on October 23, 2014.


The activity started with a workshop orientation featuring Ms. Rosario Asong, Vice President of Soroptimist International Iloilo Chapter, as the first speaker who discussed insights on Gender Roles, Difference Between Gender and Sex, and other pressing issues pertaining to gender equality.


Meanwhile, the second speaker, Ms. Glyceria de Ramos, shared key points on self-worth development during the Values Clarification Workshop.


Reynold T. Pigar, OWWA RWO VI Officer in Charge, provided techniques for coping with stressful situations and condition in the Stress Management for Scholars module. Rizza Joy H. Mapa, on the other hand, talked about the value of leadership and the essential qualities of an effective leader.


The event was conducted as a reaffirmation of the agency’s commitment to assist its scholars, not only in providing financial assistance, but also in the promotion of their holistic development as individuals.
