More than 2,000 OFWs and families join Labor Day Assembly with PRRD

Davao City – More than two thousand (2,000) OFWs and their families from Davao City, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley Province joined the Labor Day Assembly with President Rodrigo R. Duterte last May 1, 2017 at the People’s Park, Davao City. The assembly was one of the highlights of the 119th Labor Day celebration.


OWWA’s bigwigs led by Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac together with Deputy Administrators, Atty. Brigido J. Dulay Jr. and Mr. Josefino I. Torres, and Director for Regional Operations Coordination Service (ROCS), Mr. Benny I. Reyes also joined the celebration.


Admin Cacdac personally expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all the members of the OFW Family Circles who travelled from far-flung areas to attend the assembly and met President Duterte. He was overwhelmed by the eagerness and commitment of the OFC members who consistently support the programs of OWWA.


Valuable prizes such as house and lot, sacks of rice, and tricycles (pangkabuhayan) were raffled off during the program.


Ms. Evadora L. Apang, an OFW and a house renter from Sirawan, Toril, Davao City became the new owner of the house and lot worth P1,000,000.00 courtesy of Pag-IBIG Fund. OFW Apang worked as a Domestic Worker in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for two years prior to her returned.


Meanwhile, winners of the 5-seater tricycle from OWWA-RWO XI were: Leopoldo D. Acebedo (Davao del Norte), Amelita C. Mancera (Davao City), Ronnie Sarate (Davao del Sur), Rogelio Refuela (Compostela Valley Province), and Noel Betunases (Davao City). The other ten (10) tricycles were sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment.


The labor ay assembly was spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG) and other National Government Agencies.
